Funny, you mention Elvis Costello, the Clash and Sting. All were inducted into the Rock and Roll the same year, 2003. I think Elvis said something like "It's a good year to be British." I don't know if the Jam were ever inducted.
First off, if someone could resend me the original story/weblink that set this all of, I'd greatly appreciate it.
Yes, Omaha i right, The Jam and Paul Weller as a soloist are great. I got into Weller as a solo artist first, back when WILDWOOD came out. A fantastic record. And, in the past 6 months, I have been HEAVY into The Jam...used to despise them, now I cannot stop playing them. (Here's some more tunes to add to the great ones Ohama listed: "Down In The Tube Station At Midnight"; "Pretty Green"; "Girl On The Phone"; "Start!"
Anyway...it seems that everyone from the late-70s time period disliked each other. Numerous times over the years we have heard Elvis Costello knock Sting; I have heard/read Weller do it too. And I have heard more than a few Sting quotes mocking The Clash.
Can't we all just get alone...and admit how great one's peers are?
