Hello list, Since this seems to be a slow period, I figured I'd ask this; in your OPINION, what was Sting's low and high point in his career? You can also put this towards Stew or Andy, but I figured that since Sting is the most visible, I'd ask it about him. For example, I think Sting's TST album and tour was his high point. (What a great tour, but those were the days) I would use his last studio album and tour as a low point, but I think that has been said enough. So, I'll go with his remake of Demolition man for the movie Demolition man. In my OPINION I think the redone version was pure crap (as was the movie) but at least the EP had some live cuts with a rocking version of KOP. I am interested to hear what you think
Hi everybody from Giovanni in Milano. I do consider the highest point in Sting career the 'Synchronicity' album: that sound is still new lyrically, technically and soulfully speaking. Some may say the 'Dream Of The Blue Turtles' was highest but many of the songs included in the DOTBT album sound a bit 'old' to me now, talking about arrangements and the way he was composing. The lowest point in his career.....I don't know, maybe when he tryed to sing 'My Funny Friend And Me' in Italian. Sting's career, to me, is packed with high points, now being one of them. As to the lowest point, I will say All For Love. I'm surprised no one mentioned it yet. Ciao Michele
It seems like EVERYBODY hates "All For Love", not just Sting fans or people on the list, pretty much every member of the human species seems to hate that song. Well, I guess I'm the exeption, I think it's a decent song, I think it would've sucked without Sting ofcourse ;-) It's not one of the best songs he has performed, but it's definitly not one of the worst. If we're talking lowpoints I think we should be talking about his countrysongs in general and "I'm so Happy I Can't Stop Crying" in particular, that's an awful song with awfully pretentious lyrics. I'm totally with Dominic on this subject. Actually Dom's guitarplaying is the only thing that justifies this songs existance at all. OK, now you all have two reasons to flame me. 1. I like "All for Love" 2. I hate "I'm so Happy I Can't Stop Crying" Cheers, Patrik -----Original Message----- From: police-admin@mailman.xmission.com [mailto:police-admin@mailman.xmission.com]On Behalf Of Michele Piumini Sent: Tuesday, February 19, 2002 1:37 PM To: police@xmission.com Subject: R: [Police] Sting Sting's career, to me, is packed with high points, now being one of them. I'm with you, Patrik. I think AFL is a decent song too. As for ISHICSC I think these are the worst lyrics he's ever written. Maybe it's a Scandinacian thing :-) Mikkel From: "Ulrica & Patrik" <lutyou@telia.com> To: <police@xmission.com> Subject: RE: [Police] Sting Date sent: Wed, 20 Feb 2002 00:11:49 +0100
