I know you need a special receiver with 5.1 and the extra speakers and all that to truly experience the DTS version of the Every Breath You Take cd, but do you need a special cd player, or will any one on the market, or my 10 year old one for that matter do just fine?

You need a CD player that also has a DTS decoder built into it. Your standard DVD player should have this - most (if not all) are also capable of playing audio CDs. Steve
