Re: [Police] a little Stingchronicity history
Yeah, if they didn't sell the material then they should have. I used to have a little Sting page called the Ugly Sting Page. It ran $40 a year for the domain name and another $15 a month for the server. It took a lot of work and I put nothing into it like Dave and Wendy did. I don't have a problem with Stingus always linking to amazon to get kick backs either. I do miss Stingchronicity. I think the official site is too expensive. But that's okay too. Sting is a business - Gordon Summner is a businessman. The world works. Rich

Hello,
I agree with all of you that Wendy and Dave from Stingchronicty are great people. They are wonderful and warm in real life too. They were at the first Police concerts, and have been there the whole way supporting Sting, his art, and his fans.
I believe (i.e., the following is my OPINION) that Wendy and Dave either donated or more likely, sold the material from the Stingchronicty site to be put on the Sting.com website. There are too many identical areas ("Today in Sting history," the reviews, etc.) for them to be unrelated. Plus, the tag on the replies from emails to the fan club (now run by Sting.com) includes Wendy and Dave's name, along with Tina who has been there the whole time (and is also a really great person).
If Dave and Wendy donated the content of their site for Sting.com's use, great. If they did indeed sell it, you could take two positions: 1) That the countless hours of time they put into Stingchronicity should be rewarded and in this day and age the internet is becoming a valid way to earn money or 2) That the once altruistic nature of Stingchronicity (by the fans, for the fans) has been corrupted and they are selling out (again, I do not know if they sold the content or not).
It should also be reminded that Wendy and Dave had a spate of people stealing things from their site and putting it on other sites, and I know that really hurt them, so that was another reason they shut it down.
Take care, James Norman
