Sting on the Mormon Tabrenacle Choir
Hi all, I thought I'd unlurk to share this story... http://www.meridianmagazine.com/music/020206here.html Scroll down and you will find the section on Sting. An excerpt: "At the conclusion of a recent recording session, Sting stepped before the [Mormon Tabernacle Choir] and said: 'I am deeply moved. To hear human beings sing this way--with such clarity and unity-- makes me proud to be a human being...one of God's children.'" The local news (ksl.com) showed Sting saying this - he said it with tears in his eyes. I must add that as wonderful as the Mormon Tabernacle Choir sounded at the Opening Ceremonies, they are infinitely more powerful when you hear them live. It is no surprise that Sting was so moved. Happy Olympics to all, Holly in Utah
Hi Holly! Tnx for sharing that with us! This is exactly what was my feelings when I heard Sting together with the choir and Yo-Yo Ma! I was deeply moved too! As much as I was moved to see Latvian team approaching stadium. Despite of the cold weather and everything it was a great even I guess! ;)) Panda Another huge fan of Sting from Latvia ----- Original Message ----- From: "Holly Murdock" <hollym@aros.net> To: <police@mailman.xmission.com> Sent: Thursday, February 14, 2002 10:38 AM Subject: [Police] Sting on the Mormon Tabrenacle Choir

At least you got to see the Latvian team!! They cut to a commercial break here in America after the Latvian team went by and came back when Mexico was marching in, so I missed seeing the Lithuanian team (my father was from Lithuania) :( Exact same thing happened last Olympics too - guess they thought least complaints from Lichensteiners and Lithuanians, small countries that they are. I had to stay up to catch Sting after that disappointment. Though I wasn't crazy about that version of Fragile it was very touching with all the audience holding lights and the choir singing. We, as fans, might have overdosed on the song but thousands, even millions, have never heard it once! The Sting article in Feb. Harpers is all about the love affair between Sting and Trudie. Kind of a fun article - don't know how believable though. The pictures are soft focus head shots of the both of them looking at each other - very romantic. Talks about them being like teenagers with each other - lovey dovey and about being separated so often adds to keeping the romance alive. Paula
