Hi, I worked as an usher at the BJC at Penn State for about a year and a half when they opened (hoping that they would get Sting, they didn't) and got to see a lot of shows there for free as part of my work (Eagles, Garth Brooks, Rod Stewart, Phil Collins, Gloria Estefan, etc.). I never really thought that the acoustics were that bad myself, but lately the BJC is not selling out any of the shows, even country acts (which were their no.1 draw). I think that it is more the fact that the overall student population on a whole does not seem interested in attending any shows there right now. I know a lot of non-students that are going to the show since it is his first ever appearance in the area and they are interested to see him. There was a student sale prior to the fan club presale and general sale that did very poorly, in fact, many students did not even know that there even was a presale (with great tickets and a discount). Plus, as far as the students go, the concert is at the end of the semester and by that point most students are running low on their cash and tend to not go to concerts or other things that cost a lot of money. For a while the BJC was getting a lot of really good acts and selling out, I think that it is really hard to pinpoint the problem with Sting's show there- is it the venue, the surrounding population, or the marketing of the show, I am not sure. I really hope that more tickets are sold closer to the date, but I am not holding my breath.
