Re: [Police] Rocker feels sting of soaring act by Lennox & interesting article
The SL show I saw early on was fabulous, and I felt like I never wanted it to end. My senses were even deafened for a time afterward. However, the awful truth is that we are forever reminded of those Sting performances which exceeded beyond fabulous. My such concert was at the patriot center during the NLTS tour. It quite literally was THE best concert that I have EVER attended. I would say that only one show from the BND tour even came close-- though I enjoyed all of the shows I attended from the various tours. It's the curse of that perfect show...he can never possibly achieve it again. There will always be a reason for someone to use to make the performance not nearly as good for them. Yet, each show will be enjoyed by all...if you only see it once. It boggles my mind as to why Sting keeps using the same set list! It makes no sense. I feel fortunate that during a BND show I saw, he sang a different song "My One and Only Love". I had tears, and I never really listened to that song on that soundtrack, because I preferred "Angel Eyes". Heh, I probably would have fainted if he had sung that one. :) Anyway, I don't want to feel like I have seen all Sting can give in concert. Heaven forbid that seeing a show by him should become nothing but an act of nostalgia--a means of just having the chance to just see him perform again?! It makes me wonder if that isn't what it's always been to me--since that perfect show. No, seeing Sting has always been an enjoyable experience. Perhaps, it just can no longer be so during the same tour. hello teri. yours was another GREAT post to the page. i too remember - like it was yesterday - the NLTS tour. that was my 1st ever sting show - and it was OUTSTANDING. for me, ever since the BND tour, his shows have taken the look of "well, i can take it easy. i have put in my time on the road over the years. i have my fan base - they are loyal, i have them for life. so, no changes tonite. just your standard show.". and THAT attitude - or at least my perception that the attitude is present - is what has got me put off to see him - once a tour or anytime a tour. if you are lucky, you will see someone like readiohead, who vary setlists on a nightly basis, and say different things at different times during a performance - unscripted. that is all i ask for, that along with him playing the bass like his life depended on it! best, rich --- Teri Kronberg <burgaus@juno.com> wrote:
