Hello Mate, As a drummer myself, who grew up inspired by Stewarts drumming, I would say that for originality, I would choose Stu First. 1) Stewart Copeland - originality wins him first place 2) Abe Laborial Jnr - Most of you will not have seen him play with Sting yet, but the man is amazing to listen too. He seems to have the chops for all styles, and seems to have a much stronger grasp on the BND material than Manu has after a whole tour. 3) Vinne - I personally love Vinnie's playing, much for the same reasons as Abe's. I think most players would struggle to pick Vinnie or Abe out of a recording that they didnt know who was playing. I would not say that either of them have a distinctive sound, just very solid players. 4. Omar - The man clearly has a talent, and probably has more raw talent than most players on this list, but he didnt feel that connected tothe music as the others did. 5. On the NLTS tour, both Jean Pual Ciccarelli and JT Lewis were both pretty decent, but nothing amazing. 5.1. I dont have Manu on the list, but the only reason that I dont is that I found his playing with Sting to be very plain, restrained and he struggles to play certain styles. I am not sure the reason for this, because if you listen to Peter Gabriels Secret World Live Concert, I though his playing was for the most part wonderful, both Solsbury Hill and Across the River were standout for me. Someone earlir commented on Manu always using the click track, this isnt his fault, this is just so that he can stay aligned with the constant use of sequencers on the bnd tour, he can hardly be faulted for this.
