Andy and Stewart performed with Incubus!!!
Hi there, Last night (Dec. 12, 2004) Andy and Stewart joined the band Incubus at the KROQ Almost Acoustic Christmas 2004 event at the Universal Amphitheater in Los Angeles, CA! They performed the following songs of The Police: - De Do Do Do De Da Da Da - Message In A Bottle - Roxanne (extended version!) Brandon Boyd (lead vocalist) of Incubus introduced them this way: "Ladies and gentlemen. Boys and girls of all ages. Stewart Copeland and Andy Summers of The Police!". I'm NOT joking!!! Take care, Rogier. Rogier's Police Page: http://www.police.cybercomm.nl/ e-mail: gugten@cybercomm.nl

I just downloaded the 30+ MB file from KROG of the Andy/Stewart/Incubus gig. Go here to download. http://www.stewartcopeland.co.uk/stewartcopela-16.html . I am wondering if they are really setting us up for a Police reunion in Sting's Broken Music tour??? Stewart was as loud as ever. The singer tried his best to sound like Sting, he did a decent version of Roxanne but Message and De Do Do Do, he was not as good, in fact I really don't like hearing this Incubus guy sing Sting's songs. It's really weird seeing Stewart and Andy play Sting's songs with another band, frankly, I don't like it. I think they should play the songs they wrote, like Darkness, Mother etc. It's one of two things, either my prediction is true... " The announcement is in December but the concert starts April 1st. Any chance this December announcement is the planning of an April Fools joke on 4/1 and Sting steps on stage with Andy and Stewart reforming the Police instead?" OR Miles, Stewart and Andy are upset Sting would go the "rock" route without them and they will attempt a "Police reunion" without Sting. I highly doubt this, given according to Stewart's original post on the subject, which you can read here: http://www.backstagecafe.com/forum/read.cfm? forum=4&ContentID=22033&thread=3093 this was something planned "months ago". Which Stewart had basically forgotten about. So I highly doubt it was staged as some kind of sudden pre-emptive strike against Sting's Broken Music tour nor as a teaser for some other kind of reunion performance. Seemed to me like a couple of guys just looking to have a good time playing some music they enjoyed playing together, with the help of a young band that was obviously big fans. And I for enjoyed having the pleasure of hearing it a heck of a lot. nicole
thanx to maggie for giving the heads up about this. i hadn't been to ian's page in a few weeks, so i was unaware of this. my thoughts, for what they are worth: 1) for only having rehearsed one day, i thought it sounded great 2) KROQ (station that hosted the xma concert) is one of if not THE premier modern ("new") rock stations in the usa. given that, the fact that the audience seemed to go nutz for every tune made me feel great - so imagine how andy and stewart felt! rich --- Trini <snsv@yahoo.com> wrote:
