Did he look "Stringy"? He did! This took place outside of a radio station in Portland. He arrived (via a black Lincoln Continental), disappeared into the gated back entrance, did his thing on-air, and then reappeared. Before he could get back into the car, others around me made such a fuss that he sauntered over with his minders. The gate was opened and the surliest "minder" proclaimed "ONE ITEM EACH" whilst looking in the direction of a fan who had brought an armload of LP's! When it came to be my turn, I offered my BRAND NEW DAY cd and asked him if he would sign with my silver pen. He looked down at me as if I were some strange exotic bug, calmly took the pen, signed his name, and silently moved on. And I was pleased as punch!
I've "met" Andy twice: once after a '97 show in Portland and then a year ago at a book signing (also in Portland). He's younger looking & much more personable than he appears in photos, shorter than I, and extremely funny. I haven't met Stewart, but once upon a time I sent him an email. He wrote back simply, "Cheers!" Mitch
