I'll vouch for that. As I came up to a traffic jam on the M40 motorway in the UK, all three lanes were at a standstill... I was in lane three (the "fast" lane as it's commonly known), and the guy behind me wasn't paying attention. I saw him getting closer - it was almost as if it was in slow motion! I braced myself, and he went into the back of me. He'd noticed I'd stopped in time to at least try applying the brakes, but he must have hit my rear end at about 30-40 mph. My airbags didn't go off, and I really didn't feel that much of an impact, but it wrote off his car (A Vauxhall Corsa), and caused about £250 of damage to my bumper. No word of a lie, it looked like someone had got their shoe and tried to scrape some dirt off it, on my bumper. Amazing! His car was practically folded upto the windscreen. Luckily, no serious injuries, but he had a difficult time getting home. I've never felt safer.
