Yeah, you could be right on that. I try to ignore what I don't want to do (or can't) by going on tour as well, lol...

Good theory, and it is going to be a hard act to follow. I hope this doesn't mean this is IT for him and wanted to end w/a bang. I can't imagine that "retire" would be in his vocabulary, but stranger things have happened.

That was followed by the lute project. And now The Police will be touring for over a year (I'm certainly not complaining about that). Could he be avoiding writing new material by constantly touring? I also think that his next album will have to kick ass in order to have any relevance after the Police tour...
