Hi Everyone,
We're supposed to get more snow today. Hooray. Or,wait, what's the exact opposite of hooray?<sigh>
A few Sting things:
First, found a book at a book sale called "Take This Advice: Best Graduation Speeches Ever Made", Edited by Sandra Bark. It gives the text of a commencement speech that Sting made at the Berklee College of Music in 1994. I'm pretty sure some of it appeared later in the book "Broken Music".

Second, there was a nice article in the Philadelphia Inquirer on Sunday, 1/31/10, regarding Sting's appearance at the Academy of Music in Philly for an anniversary concert benefitting the Phila. Orchestra. Seems that all of his friends had already done this benefit, and he was the latest; Billy Joel, James Taylor, etc., had gone before.

Finally, I won the weekly puzzle contest on National Public Radio this past weekend, and they usually have a celebrity read the list of prizes to the winners. When they called to notify me that I had won, I said to the producer, "Now, if you tell me that Sting will be reading my prizes, I can die a happy woman!" She said they did actually have a musician lined up to do it, but not Sting. When they called to tape the segment for Weekend Edition Sunday, the producer said they had actually attempted to reach Sting, but had been unable to do so. He was apparently interviewed by them recently, so I have to go into the archives and look that up. But I just want to give this plug for NPR -- what a nice bunch of people! I'm pretty sure you can hear my segment at npr.org. I had great fun, and they did mention Sting when they taped the segment!
BTW, the musician who read my prizes was Josh Turner, who was recently described by Blender magazine as the "Barry White of Country Music". Not my first choice, but it was a fun experience!
That's all I've got for today -- I'll let you know if anything else comes up!
;-)
Have a great week everyone!
Holly
