many of us have weighed in on the 'reunion' issue, and teri's comment below about "making peace with the past" prompted me to say a bit more (by the way, this is an EXCELLENT point, ter!) reflect back to DOTBT, when sting bolted from the police and set out a a soloist: it seems to me that, based on the way the police just ceased to exist - on a dime, with no warning - that there was a void created. and it is a void that, because of sting's attitude, has existed until this very day. by attitude, i am not talking about 'reunion' - i mean what teri mentioned, embracing the history of the police, that music, what it meant to people. don't give us the same 4 or 5 police songs on every tour. there is an entire catalog that he can draw from! i know i will never forget this material, despite his tactic 'i'll ignore them away'. i have yet to see him on the SL tour - my last show was the one in central park. and i have no plans to see him ever again - barring some exceptions that i mentioned here before. when i told someone this the other day, i started thinking "does that mean i am not a diehard sting fan anymore?" maybe. but i look at it another way - that, because of BND and its tour as well as SL and what i am reading about this tour, that i have died hard where is concerned, choked to death by disppointment... i can't, i can't, i can't stand losing... rich --- Teri Kronberg <burgaus@juno.com> wrote:
Even if, in the case of Sting, he seemed intent on examining only the most obvious choices from his older work.
After seeing nearly every tour, I still ask why?
I would have loved to have heard him sing "So Lonely", that's one that I asked for him to sing (when they had that pole on the website).
Sting's seeming disdain for his work with the Police was evident as well.
That's bad when they start writing this in non-fan-related reviews.
Lennox seemed unburdened by her past, and the result was a dynamic set that was consistently engaging.
Yes, hello! Why should the past be a burden? That's my question. Sure Sting wants to move on, and what's the best way--make peace with the past. We see obvious proof here.
I know.... :| Well, he won't see me until the next tour, if then. Now, I know what a mid-life crisis feels like.
