I have to start by saying that I hadn't heard FP prior to the Tonight Show appearance, and I did like the song.  So I jumped on over to their Myspace page, and see a lot of awesome bands that have influenced them (with the glaring exception of The Police).

In their performance though, I see a 3-piece band with a lead singer who also plays bass (hmm), a lead guitarist playing a beat-up old Telecaster (hmm, again), and the nod to early Police with the jump at the end.  Joe playing bass is understandable, but I was really surprised at all of the other similarities.  Intentional or subliminal??
