Hi everyone, I can't think of a better word than CRAZY to describe Stewart's gig in Milan last night. The acoustics were honestly bad: the sound coming from the orchestra was very confused, but he was perfectly audible, which in the end is what mattered most. Anyway, I was in second row, right in front of him... I know this is old news to most of you but I'd never seen him play so let me say that man is an absolute MONSTER. You don't need to be a drummer (I am, BTW) to feel that drums are his natural element. He makes funny faces and sways to the rhythm in an amazing way, as I'd never seen a drummer do before. Even if you watch him closely, sometimes you still can't believe what you hear. He showed up all dressed in white and was very communicative throughout the evening, talking to the audience in between songs (we all laughed out loud when he said "Any questions?"), introducing the musicians and his compositions. Two of the songs he played were "Eve" and "Grace", named after two of his three daughters. Though I know most of his solo stuff, I only recognized a song from Rumblefish and The Equalizer Busy Equalizing. He seems to have built the show on stuff he's never published on an album. The overall effect was crazy: you know what Stewart's music sounds like, and hearing it played live is great fun. It's a pity the gig was so short: he played not much longer than 1 hour. I hope the acoustics in Turin will be better tonight. Ciao! Michele
