Is it just me, or does the track "The Soul Cages" remind you of the "Devil went down to Georgia (by the Charlie Daniels Band)" song? [boy bets the Devil that, surprisingly, he can beat him at a test of skill, and does]
I think both songs are drawing on a standard element of folklore - namely, that a valiant child (*especially* if he is the youngest, and *really especially* if his two older brothers have gone before him and failed) can defeat the Devil / some challenge, by dint of pluckiness, courage, or just poetic justice.
