Stewart Copeland, drummer for the Police, will
release his first-ever best of collection, titled The Stewart Copeland
Anthology on August 14th.
The set includes compositions from his solo career
including his Trey Anastasio/Les Claypool collaboration: Oysterhead, as well as
key tracks from the Notte Della Taranta and GIZMO ensembles. Most noteworthy are
Copelands soundtrack compositions.
Back in 1983 Copeland was asked by legendary
filmmaker Francis Ford Coppala to score his kids art-flick Rumble Fish. Copeland
later received a Golden Globe nomination for his contribution to the films
score. These, along with tracks from the product of his musical pilgrimage to
Africa,The Rhythmatist are included on the anthology. All together 10 never
before commercially released tracks make the cut.
