I just got my copy of this DTS album in the mail the other day and I haven't had the time to really listen to it. But one thing that struck me right away was that the drums are playing very differently on "Every Little Thing She Does is Magic" than on the recording we're all used to. The thing that made me notice it in the first place was just before the first chorus. On the "old" recording Stew plays a flame stroke on the snare on the eight beat after the four. Like "One and Two and Three and Foor AND". But on the DTS version there are two flame strokes, one on "Three AND" and one were it's allways been. The same thing happens before the second chorus. Also on the bridge in to the second chorus, where Sting sings WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET, the drums are different, on the old recording it's just kickdrum and hi-hat and the kick plays eight notes just before the flamestroke. Here it's kick, hi-hat and also snare playin on the two and four. Hope everyone who's not musicians understand what I'm saying, it's not easy being from Sweden, I'm not THAT familiar with musical terms in english. Anyway, what's important is that it's different. I'm not shure if this could be an alternate take, so that it actually is Stew's original drumming or if it's just a little "cut & paste" in Pro Tools. Anyway, I've not had time to listen all that carefully but there are some guitarparts I've never heard before in this song too, It could be that it's just easier to hear it in the surround mix so that's why. But it could be that it's added too. I'm shure there are differences in other songs too so I'll get back to you all on that when I've listened to it more closely, I'm thinking of doing som A to B comparison too. PS. It's really worth buying, it's really cool. DS.
