Asunto: Re: [Police] A few thoughts
I don’t think they produce a new album.
They are too busy doing their own things.
Specially after this big Tour..
This Reunion only happened because Sting (or his management) finally called up Andy + Stewart for the 30 year anniversary !
To be honest : is there something “new” or “really interesting” in “Sacred Love” or “Brand New Day” ?
I don’t even remember all the songs ! And i’m not too old to keep those in mind.
But i still know all the songs and the lyrics on “The Dream Of the Blue Turtles” !
And i would like to know who told him
to do a lute project...thanks to Dominic, maybe ?
Guess what ?
He was bored ! Yes !
Sorry, the last Broken Sting Tour i’ve seen (Montreux Jazz Festival) featured maybe 60 – 70 % of Police songs, Andy’s stuff had to be played by 2 (TWO, ZWEI, DUE) Guitarists !
People in every age going nuts when they played Roxanne + sleeping when they played “Desert Rose”...sorry, i don’t like that song either...
Just my thoughts, it’s close to midnight here,
have to go,
Good night !
Simon

Betreff: [Police] A few thoughts
I don't understand why many people think a new Police album would be a bad idea. Yes, they (The Police) have nothing to prove. But, does that mean that Sting, Andy, and Stewart still have something to prove as individuals? They've all proven themselves 10X over. Are we better off if all three of them stop producing solo material? Maybe they should all stop so that all of their work lives on as a legacy.
I think that is the wrong idea. A new, successful Police album would be the ultimate challenge to all three. Besides, I haven't heard much else about the police not making a new record except for the article that appeared in "The Sun". I hope this is just a marketing exercise to push
ticket sales for the third leg of the tour.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed like I've been doing for the past 20+ yrs.

Ciao a tutti from Giovanni.
I look forward to a New Sting album; I can only imagine what he is capable of after a Police tour.
Same for Stewart and Andy.
The Police are the past, sorry but The Police 'we want' is something from the past; why do you think they are not thinking about working on a new record? Simple: no great ideas probably, nothing that can push the name higher than where is now; the band did the best ever in the Eighties, did a fabulous reunion tour.....what else? And why?
Remember: there is always a number of fans that will be disappointed if they will or they
won't release a new album or many other reasons.
I simply trust their creativity and cleverness; the fact that they do not release an album is a sign that a new album won't be that interesting; if they will change their minds and will decide to do it, that means they found a good creative reason.
Giovanni
