To add to what Fred said, when I listened to the tracks with my buddy, Jock (also a massive fan), we kept on having those "oh my God, did you hear that?" moments...very cool differences from the originals, for sure. But the casual listener who is familiar with the songs simply from hearing them on the radio would have no idea they are different. They are, I believe, the perfect remixes, and they alone make the box set worth getting. Apparently they unearthed alternate takes from Brandford, Sting's vocals etc... and mixed those in. The mixes are quite different if those songs are engrained in your DNA. They don't sound like remixes or remasters, but rather like an alternate take on the album recorded in 85. -----Original Message----- From: police-bounces@mailman.xmission.com [mailto:police-bounces@mailman.xmission.com] On Behalf Of Timothy Enders Sent: Monday, March 05, 2012 8:18 AM To: police@mailman.xmission.com Subject: Re: [Police] "Turtles" tracks remixed on "25 Years"! How different are the new mixes? Are they new arrangements, instrumentation, or are they just the same master tracks that have been re-leveled / re mastered? -----Original Message----- From: police-bounces@mailman.xmission.com [mailto:police-bounces@mailman.xmission.com] On Behalf Of Bruce Greenwood Sent: Saturday, March 03, 2012 7:45 PM To: chunk@gmx.net; police@mailman.xmission.com Subject: Re: [Police] "Turtles" tracks remixed on "25 Years"! I have no other insights, but was also thrilled to discover that when I got the "25 Years" boxes et when it came out. Those new mixes are fantastic! I couldn't stop listening to them at first. Very cool! -----Original Message----- From: police-bounces@mailman.xmission.com [mailto:police-bounces@mailman.xmission.com] On Behalf Of chunk@gmx.net Sent: March-03-12 4:32 PM To: police@mailman.xmission.com Subject: [Police] "Turtles" tracks remixed on "25 Years"! Hi, I just noticed to my great surprise that on "25 Years" the 5 tracks from Sting's first solo album ("The Dream Of The Blue Turtles") are noticable remixed! Have these appeared anywhere else before? Is the whole album available in remixed form anywhere? What's the story, anyway?
