The reason I think it will be more accoustic than robotic (kudos to whoever said that) is because the announced artists are all playing instruments that can be played accoustically. Granted, you can put a pickup on an accoustic guitar, surely the bass will be electric, and there will probably be a microphone in front of the drums, but I think that this looks like a less techno-driven ensemble.
Also, just because he's coming to college campuses does not mean he will sell out and do a rock tour. Look at the median age of his fan base. There are professors and townies living in these areas -- I have for the last 21 years and I am NOT associated with the college -- and believe me, we all raised our kids on the good stuff: Blue Turtles, Soul Cages, etc. So he is appealing to more than the students.
College kids are not high school kids -- there is a BIG difference in what the high school kids listen to vs. what the college kids enjoy, and it has been my experience that the college kids enjoy the whole spectrum of music, not just techno/rock/Cher on a vocoder (shudder).
So let's keep our fingers crossed for a mellower experience without keyboards (she said, innocently), and therefore a much more musical experience!
