Personally, I don't think U2 has recorded a great album since Achtung Baby, maybe Zooropa... I feel like their latest albums have been re-treads and just plain boring. For me The Police tour is all I ever wanted out of them. Who knows, maybe this experience will revitalize Sting's creative juices... but based on Sting's solo career over the last 10 years I'm kind of afraid of what a new Police album would sound like. As a solo artist, Sting can never live up to The Police and 23 years later how could the group as a whole possibly record a new album to stand with the existing 5? Of course, if that's what it takes to keep them touring... The thing U2 has going for it is that U2 has continued to record great albums (in my opinion) the entire time The Police have been away. Up to and including their latest album. While The Police tour is wonderful, it is, at the end of the day, a greatest hits tour. Thoughts?
