My fellow Sting fans....
You know, I'm really surprised at all the criticism that Sting's latest music is getting. He has been in a slow progression towards this style of music ever since "Mercury Falling" in my humble opinion. Each album gets more and more "electronic" and "over-produced" as some people seem to be fond of saying. And in a way, I must agree with that assessment. Granted I have not seen him live on the Sacred Love tour as many times as most of you it sounds like, but I did get a chance to see him for this tour in Feb. and the songs do sound different onstage, mostly because they can't be as complicated as in the studio. There's nothing wrong with that, and plenty of bands/musicians sound different onstage than on their albums. I'm sure I'm not imparting any great wisdom here. All my friends, including myself, think that Sacred Love is a great album. I am first and foremost a Police fan however. My friends and I grew up on the Police and there's not a bone in my body that doesn't wish that some miracle will occur, and Sting will awaken from the spell he is under and make amends with Andy and Stewart and return to one of the greatest 3-piece bands there has ever been. I've never been crazy about the direction Sting has taken with his music, but compare it with the cheap pop music that is out there, and it is still a "quality" product in my eyes. Nobody is more brilliant and talented than Sting.
