I know the woman who suggested to Sting that he sing "What are you doing for the rest of your life" is on this list.
At the Chris Botti show on Friday night in LA (with all the special guests, including Sting), Chris told the story about why Sting sang this song.
Chris said something like: the reason this next guest is singing this song is because a fan stopped him on the street and suggested it. You know, we all see someone famous and want to suggest something to them (this was said as a joke. It got a good laugh). I don't know who that fan was, I don't know where she is today or what she's doing, but she's the reason this song was recorded.
It was actually longer than that, but I can't remember it all. I'm not even sure Chris was certain it was a female fan.
Maybe his story will end up on the PBS special and/or the DVD of this show. There
were two shows they filmed from, but apparently, those who saw both felt the Friday show was better. So presumably, more of the Friday show will end up on tape.
Anyway, just wanted you to know that you were the reason, FOR SURE.
