Hi everyone,

I think that TST is probably his best album, musically, though TSC is my personal favourite. It's such a shame that "Something The Boy Said" is never played live - it's so atmospheric and perfectly arranged, with great lyrics.

As for MF,it has grown on me over time."The Hounds of Winter" is a favourite of mine because of the interesting mood and some very nice instrumentation."Let Your Soul Be Your Pilot" - I'm always surprised at how little we hear about that song (for instance,it doesn't turn up much on VH1 Classic, radio, etc.) considering that it was such an obvious single and on the face of it has all the right ingredients.I quite like it,but it's by no means a favourite.

Those I particularly like are "Valparaiso" (beautiful) and "Twenty-Five To Midnight" (if this means anything,it's the one I find myself singing at odd moments the most often!),which fortunately appeared on the UK version of the album.I read in an interview that Sting regretted having left it off the US version, and he made some remark about how he should have left off "the French one" (quite possibly my least favourite Sting song ever) instead."Lithium Sunset" is a song I appreciate more now, perhaps because I've found a couple of live versions which I think improve on the studio one.

"All Four Seasons" isn't bad;it's just not very memorable IMHO."You Still Touch Me" is a rather nice song;certainly one of the better ones on the album."I'm So Happy..." appeals to me on some level, but country isn't a genre I'm crazy about.I'd rather have "Fill Her Up",which seems almost to gently rib the genre anyhow, and has enough twists and turns to keep me interested.

"I Was Brought...." is an odd one - very beautiful intro (there's one live version in particular in which he sings this like an angel;I'll try and find it on one of my bootlegs so I can tell you the date and place it was recorded.I'm pretty sure it's one of those "An Englishman In Paridiso" ones.).It continues nicely, but for some reason the chorus always seems kind of bland to me.But then,I've often found that I prefer the verses or bridges to choruses in Sting's songs.

"I Hung My Head" is one I can take or leave musically, but I like the story a lot.As someone else mentioned,it's interesting how the protagonist recognises that he did this terrible thing for no reason at all,and that's something which I guess a lot of us can relate to,though hopefully in less serious situations than murder!

I think that's all of them...well,I'm not so familiar with the B-sides,but I believe "Ooh La La Hugh",which I really like,is from this period.Ditto "If You There",though it sounds a lot more as though it was a rejected track for "...Nothing Like The Sun".It's the musical sibling of "The Lazarus Heart" in some ways...
