Actually, I ended up getting better seats direct from the box office for
the NEC (Birmingham UK) than I was offered through the fan
club.
Fan
club offered me rows P-Q-R (tried several times) while trying for just 2
tickets, while I managed to get FIVE tickets direct from the booking office for
row K.
On
previous tours (barring the BND tour where Compaq had the front pretty much sewn
up), I managed to get 4-5 seats front row just by calling the box office again,
and I wasn't a member then.
I
won't be renewing my membership again. Tried it, because I'd heard that
"Outlandos" was very good, and I'd heard of people getting newsletters
etc.
I'm
not knocking the people actually running it from the UK, but with hindsight, I
wouldn't have joined... not in it's current format
anyway.
The
'exclusive' premium content CD-ROM that I paid the extra $20 wasn't worth it (in
my opinion) either, as apart from some very poor quality video material (that
seems to be cut short, and compressed for narrowband 'web' viewing rather than
higher quality CD-ROM compression), most of the 'exclusive' content links to the
website anyway - or at least, if it's not directly available to download through
the website interface, the content is most certainly hosted at sting.com - which
really is beyond belief... what's the point of having an 'exclusive'
CD-ROM, which requires internet access to obtain the materials that
should be on the CD itself?? Seems like it's just an extra $20 to
get a bit a 'members only->better members' area of the website where normal
members can't go.
Regards,
J.

Hey gang,
I have a question; Are there any real good reasons to join the Sting fan
club? Do you get real good seats?
Next question; Fred Berthelot please email me off list.
Mike
hmmm, would I do it again?
Probably. I can't say the seats are any better than I've gotten on my own, but
I am pretty much guaranteed getting a decent seat, if you like just decent
seats. I've become quite spoiled and really don't want more than 6 rows back.
Oddly enough, the tix I am purchasing through the fan club aren't what I'd go
for if I were buying them on my own. Seems like I'm buying more tickets, but
poorer quality. Actually, to get the good quality seats during BND, I had
purchased just a single seat, that's the only way I got so close each time.
Doesn't seem to matter w/sting.com whether you buy one seat or 4, they all
come up the same.
I don't think I answered your question, but if you
want seats, period, then go for the membership. If you want a single good seat
up front, try your luck and go without! One other plus to the membership is
meeting other people with that common sting bond, which is kind of neat. Yea,
go for it, it's worth it.
What show are you interested in? I may have
NY tix if our travel plans don't work out. I'd be posting them here and on
Sting.com if so. I don't believe in selling sting.com tix at a profit, nor to
someone that's not dying to go to the show! They just may have to prove
themselves worthy of the tix!
