Back in the early '80s when The Police and The
Clash were both active, Strummer regularly went out of his way to trash Sting
and The Police (well, mostly Sting) often to live audiences at Clash
concerts. I always thought that was strange... to bring up a rival
band/singer in the middle of one's own show...
I would love to hear The Police cover The Clash...
but who knows, maybe Sting declined out of respect for Strummer. Strummer
would surely be rolling in his grave if his old nemesis were to sing
one of his songs...
