Hi everybody from Giovanni in Milano! The night at the Pavarotti & friends event has been great, even if Sting showed up just 15 minutes in total. Lydia and I had no chance to meet him in person but we both had the 'blessing' from him from the stage, as well as Jutta from Germany and Enrico Mario from Modena, who were there with us. He arrived at the park around 7:20 just 1hr and a half before the show started; many other artist had already arrived, from Pavarotti to Zucchero, Grace Jones and James Brown. The line up included also James Brown, Elisa, Augusto Enriquez & his mambo band, RAf and gino Paoli and Andrea Bocelli. Before the show started, Sting came on stage for 10 minutes ready to be interviewed for the TV news together with James Brown and Zucchero, and it was a great time to see him wandering on the left side of the stage, staring at the crowd, talking to the others. The show started with Augusto Enriquez, with a mambo track; then came Sting, completely black dressed, very elegant, who sang 'Until' on acoustic guitar and orchestra on his back, and David Hartey (I guess) on piano, but I'm not sure. A great performance, warmly welcomed from the crowd; two big screens were on both side of the stage, and most of the crowd watched the show from it, in silence; it's a very intimate song, even in the middle of 20 thousand people; the crowd loved it! After some great performances from James Brown (unbelievable, the greatest tonight!), Pavarotti, Lou Reed ('Take A Walk On The Wild Side'), Grace Jones (I wished she could do 'Demolition Man' with Sting, as he wrote that song for her), and the other Italian artists, Sting came back onstage with Pavarotti to sing 'When We Dance' where a few changes at the end gave it a new life, with Sting singing in Italian, with a different melody. The 'Gran Finale' saw Sting singing a few lines of 'Hey Jude'. The concert was to benefit the children of Angola. A more intimate report will be given to Outlandos Fan Club. Ciao ciao Giovanni
