Hello,
this is Giovanni.sorry to write all thesee-mails tonight but I 'm reading
them all together.
I
guess I started this 'REAL FAN' syndrome myself with the mail I sent some days
ago; just to clarify, my intention was to consider REAL FAN people like us,
even if some of us have one or hundred records, or never 'touched' Sting,
or Andy or Stewart, this is not the matter; my point was that in situations like
this, there are many insider that have never been involved in The Police
fandom and they will be there, for so many different reasons, and this
is sad for all the fans like us, spending time reading all these e-mail,
being interested so much in The Police that we got involved in mailing list,
etc....
It's
not a problem of money, how many records, how many shows,
etc....
It's
just that many people that will have the chance to see the Police live in March
are not fans!
Good
for them anyway, because they will be there for some other reasons, but all the
Police fans, now I can say REAL POLICE FANS won't have this chance, while we all
deserve it.
Ciao
ciao
Giovanni

A:
list
Oggetto: [Police] REAL fan????
Of course it is easier to get front row at a GA
concert!!! That is a given!
I really am offended by the way some people on
this list are saying that "REAL" fans will find a way to get into the HOF
show. Some of us can not go. So apparently this makes us not REAL
fans. Well then what the hell do i have all of these freakin albums for
huh?
Here is a question that is the REAL topic of this
"debate".
What makes a "REAL" Police/Sting
fan?
Money? The ability to spend huge amounts of
cash in travel, tickets and import albums? The time and energy to
wait backstage for hours upon hours? I am pretty poor so this is not an
option for me.
I think it is dedication. I buy all of his
albums, I look for him on the net, I scan the TV guide for shows with him in
it etc. I go to concerts and try for the best seats. If I lived
closer to NY I would be hunting down the place where he stays and waiting
outside in the cold---not for days, but for a while.
But we must agree that even if we love Sting and
the Police....no matter how much...most of us have to worry about our REAL
lives first.
Which statement applies to you:
My REAL life take alot of time away from my love
of Sting
OR
My love of Sting takes
alot of time away from my REAL life.
I guess that to be a REAL fan
(according to some people on this list) is to:
A) spend lots of $$$,
B) follow Sting around like a hound
after a rabbit,
C) not have a worthy enough REAL
life to worry about where your priorities lay
D) be able to drop everything to chase after
those "ever important" tickets
E) be able to tell everyone else what a "fan"
is
REMEMBER THAT THE WORD "FAN" COMES FROM THE WORD
FANATIC.
