Hello Everyone, I don't write often, but I read all the incoming messages and occasionally I feel I need to say something - and tonight is one of those times. I just got back from the Horseshoe Tavern here in Toronto after having seen Fiction Plane perform. Wow! These guys were AMAZING. Twenty-four years to the day after The Police played CBGB's in New York, I got to see Fiction Plane play at what I think is probably Toronto's equivalent of CBGB's - The Horseshoe Bar and Tavern. Very cool. I spoke with Joe and Seton briefly before and after the show - very nice guys. The band played a single set of just 1/2 hour (there are a number of bands playing tonight) and they rocked. Their energy on stage was unbelievable, the songs were fantastic, they are very talented musicians, they played a very tight set, and I think they are even better live than on CD. Anyone who has seen them live knows this already, I guess, but I think you have to see it to believe it. Anyway, I thoroughly enjoyed the show, and urge anyone who has the opportunity to see Fiction Plane on this tour to take any chance they have to do so - you won't regret it. For those of you in the Toronto area who could not make it to the show tonight, I asked Joe if they were coming back here on this tour again and he said they will be coming back sometime after the album is released (Everything Will Never Be OK has not been released in Canada yet). To David Hopper - I have not met you in person before, and I did not get your e-mails until just now, otherwise I would have looked out for you and introduced myself - sorry! Hello Gang,
Is anyone else going to be going to the Fiction Plane show at the Horseshoe Tavern Tomorrow night? Same place Joe's dad played to about 14 people in the late 70's!
It's not listed on their website (the bar's that is) so I double checked by phone and they are the first act to go on and are supposed to play at 9:15pm sharp. May find the band before the show, but will probably get a chance to chat with them after the show.
Anyway, I'll be there nice and early.... tall guy, glasses, wearing an Oysterhead t-shirt... just to be funny! Well, it was either that or a Tragicalliy Hip shirt?
Cheers
David
