A little more on the Tele at the
HOF with
Andy. I was at a book signing a couple months ago and Andy spoke
about the beat up old Tele and how he still cherishes it. He spoke of it
quite lovingly and he still has it so I don’t think that was the issue.
He seems to baby it these days is the impression I got. Not take
it out so much as its worth a lot etc. In fact he said how this year
Fender will be coming out with a signature series guitar replica of that Tele
– even examining every detail and recreating the scratches and custom stuff in
it (like the pickup configuration). He said it will be very expensive
was how he put it. I may have video of that part of his speaking not
sure – need to check the archives.
I just googled it and it seems
some articles on Fender doing this are coming out. BTW – in the book
this Fender is not the guitar he and Eric sold each other – the Fender is the
one he bought from a student of his in California in the 70’s. It’s a
customized ’61 Fender Tele.
