Hello everybody! Here I am again with news about 'The Police Derangements' I started some weeks ago! I'm a busy donk, but I'm back and want to give you the info I promised! I may put'em all in this e-mail, then read carefully as I won't write again about this stuff....ehehehe! I already told you about 'Reggatta De Blanc' & 'Don't Stand So Close To Me'. The third track is an incredible 'new' version of 'TEA IN THE SAHARA'. Should we say 'new'? No way, if we could hear different words, we would say this is a brand new track, a part from the refrain that's pretty similar, but the resto of the song is absolutely different and .... what a track! I would call it a masterpiece; it starts with the repeated line: 'And it may sound strange...' on a new guitar melody (he did some cut & paiste on some notes, building up a complete new harmony & melody), sort of a reggae-ish mood. The live vocals from Atlanta have been used in this case; drumbeats are form this live as well. Really, this could be another Nr. 1 hit. The sound is great! Let's go on with 'WALKING IN YOUR FOOTSTEPS'. More or less the same as the live version of Atlanta, but.... the vocals are a little mixed up, some lines are repeated, as well as guitar chords and effects. ONE WORLD Live from Atlanta with piano overdubs every now an then....as for the other songs, all the vocals have had the 'cut & paiste' treatment, giving the song a different vocal line; echoes and choirs overdubs are the main differences. DEMOLITION MAN This is another masterpiece! This is a complete new version, with a new bassline composed performed by Stewart; low key notes and synthetised bass! A perfect sound for this song that now has a different harmony. The vocals parts have been treated giving more volume to some of the 'low key' choruses, let me explain better: Sting used to sing five or six vocal lines for every line of the song; Stewart got the lowest keys and put more volume on them, and it sounds a little different now, or in some cases just erased all the higher notes and left the middle one. It's a powerful song, more than the original one; this sounds perfect in 2002! I may consider 'Demolition Man' maybe the best re-work of the Derangements. You can also listen to the original song at the end, where Stewart left the original part. ROXANNE Live jam from Atlanta, from the middle of the song; many overdubs with vocal parts, echoes and 'cut & paiste' trick. Nothing special to tell the truth, but it keeps the spirit and the attitude of the Police live; this may sound good for Police fans that already know how the Police used to play Roxanne live during the 'Synchronicity' tour, but for other listeners it may sound a little boring. Now you know a lot more about the Police Derangements by Stewart Copeland. Stewart & Andy Summers recorded some new guitar and piano riffs on it, in 2002! Please, keep these informations just for you. Ciao ciao Giovanni Ps.: do you wanna read more about Sting new album? Read the following e-mail.
