Hmm, who would I like Sting to tour with????

Young Jazz guitarist, has had a number of albums and played in a band called The Police. Sting and Andy on a Jazz tour - that would be something else I reckon.

Uhm...

Sting & Michael Stipe would be interesting.

Sting & Lenny Kravitz would Rock & Soul, perfect for them, perfect for me!

Sting & Peter Gabriel? I don't know...too similar in many aspects, already seen them a few times together, but could be interesting if they would plan a whole show.

I may think of some more, but by now these are my immediate choices.

Honestly, I would *LOVE* to be able to see this tour.

Unfortunately, I’m not going to.

I know this is at this point a hackneyed old argument, and it comes down to if you’re willing or not, but the tickets are too damn expensive.

Looking at the Verizon Center in DC (a fairly large stadium / amphitheater), and floor seats are $1,000. Seriously. $1000. And not just the front row. This goes for seats at the very back of the floor where you won’t be able to see anything either. The *VERY CHEAPEST* section of seats are the second balcony, far end of the place from the stage. The front rows there are $100, with the back half of the rows being $60.

Tickets at places like Holly’s Giant Center in Hershey are a little more reasonable, with some floor seats (at the very very back) being $100. The nosebleeds there are about $50.

I know I’m probably getting whiny at my old age of 37 ( :P ) but I just can’t see paying that much to see a show. A $50 seat, sure, ok, I’ll suck that up. But not when it’s an amphitheater away from the stage. A $100 seat, ok, I’ve paid that in in the past, but it put me literally in the front row of a U2 show, leaning on the stage. I just can’t see dropping hundreds of dollars on a seat for a show like this (which is two of the artists I have loved the most in my life) when I can pay $30 to go see a band like Gaelic Storm in a tiny venue where you’re part of the party. I know everyone’s got their own value equation to do, but for me, it’s just not worth it any more.

Hello Holly and everyone else from Giovanni in Milano! I can only say that a few days ago I was dreaming about meeting Paul Simon, and I had a chance to ask him about the tour; he was quiet about it, didn't say that much but he was happy about working with Sting, and said that they had no idea yet about which songs to play together. The dream was really clear, I mean, I felt it like I really met him... ehehehe !

By the way, I met Sting a few weeks ago but had no time to ask him about it.

Anyway, I'm sure it will be a great show, and I can already imagine which songs from Sting and Paul Simon single careers will sing and play together!

Anyway, I used to listen to Simon & Gafrunkel a lot, before even knowing who The Police were...as they weren't existing yet!

Waiting for your report Holly!

Gio

Ogg: [Police] Got my tickets!

Hi Everyone,

Just got my tickets for Paul Simon/Sting at the Giant Center in Hershey, PA.

My birthday is December 28, so this is my present.

Is anyone else coming to this show? Is anyone else going to any of the shows?

I mean, I know everyone is all tryptophanned out from all that Thanksgiving turkey,

but the list has been strangely quiet. Come on, say something!

I have always been a fan of Paul Simon, and my Sting fandom goes without saying,

so I really couldn't pass this one up, since a repeat of this tour is about as likely

as a second Police reunion!

I hope everyone stateside had a wonderful Thanksgiving.

Have a great week!

Holly
