Yes, the Polyphonic spree is really good... I saw them open for David Bowie last spring. Some spree fans were actually wearing those choir robes in the audience. Quite the mix between the guys dressed in drag, ziggy wanna be's, and then the 30-40 "mom's on the lose" (OK, guilty...) Fun, Fun concert between the two of them. And yes, the lead singer seems to have some sort of Jesus complex if you ask me, but then most lead singers do! Michelle in TX In a message dated 12/31/04 12:21:31 AM, mtigges@shaw.ca writes:
Well flipping between the Nobel Peace Prize Concert and Area 51: Secrets Revealed (Fox is my guilty pleasure) I happened to catch Botti playing muted with ... Cyndi Lauper. She sang Time after Time, a very lovely tune. And Botti sounded good. I just wish he would spend his talents on real jazz. (Hope that doesn't get me in trouble.)
The rest of the concert (as much as I caught) was pretty uninspired. Tony Bennet, Patti LaBelle played standards. But there was a large ensemble pop group called the Polyphonic Spree (from Texas somewhere). They were good. A wierd character fronting it, but their music was good.
