To
weigh into the debate.....
Back
in 84 both in Sydney and Melbourne and no doubt the rest of the planet, The
Police put on a show that consisted of three talented muso's, a couple of back
up singers, a light show and a big TV. What's changed?
I'll
tell ya what's changed - U2 raised the bar as far as a performance show goes. We
have all come to expect 30,000 dancers on stage with a singer ( Madonna, Kylie
Minogue et al) and a bucket load of costume changes like Stevie Nicks ( with or
without Fleetwood Mac).
My son
and I are going to see the Police play their music. Not some fancy show. If I
wanted to see a fancy show I would have shelled out the hard earned and gone and
seen Christina Augulira, who has just played in Brisbane.
Cheers
from down here!

The obvious question seems to be, "What's wrong with that" but in today's
day and age is it acceptable to be just frickin' great and not put on a show?
THat's why I go to shows, for sure. I rock out. I don't care what's
going on at the stage.
Am I in the minority?

As
much as I love the police, they don't put on a show of any sort.
They
just play damn great songs, great. But it's not a show by any
stretch IMHO.
