Ciao from Giovanni from Milano, Italy. Long time no news from me on this mailing lists, but it's about time to come back with some interesting bits from my side. As preannounced months ago, my book about The Police & Sting is now on sale on the main bookstores in Italy; it's entitled 'Illegal Tales - The Police & Sting, 1977-2005' (foreword by Stewart Copeland). Needless to say, I'm very happy for this release (remember I'm not a writer, I'm a musician....) and yesterday I saw it displayed next to Sting 'Broken Music' book in one of the main stores in Milan....what a shock! Considering Michele Piumini did the translation for Broken Music, we can say that Italy got a very efficient fanbase in every sense.... The book is about the discography, but do not expect a sort of catalogue; there are no lists of singles, vinyls, blah blah blah.....that's for collectors, and it's not the way I wanted to write the book, as well as my publisher needs. Every chapter is a record, starting from Outlandos to Sacred Love, with just a few chapters dedicated to alternative releases (soundtracks, greatest hits and official live). I wanted to describe how every record was released, the way the musicians felt, what happened in the studio and the story behind every track. What comes out is 'the soul' of every album, as well as an image of the three musicians as persons, not as rockstars. It's a book for fans but also for 'non fans', if you know what I mean; it's for everybody that might want to know a little more about the story of the band, going deeper on different aspects of their known discography; this is why I thought it would be boring to have lists of releases or similar; the only lists you can read are about Stewart and Andy post Police discography, at the end of the book, a couple of pages, no more. As many of you already know, my 'close encounters' with Sting, Andy and Stewart gave me more than a little help, with their stories and tales about their 'life in the Police'. Stewart was very very kind in writing the foreword, and what he wrote perfectly reflects the attitude of the book. Now, the only problem for most of you is that it has been released only in Italian. You can see the cover on my site www.illegaltales.com If you like to buy it anyway, here is the first site I've seen that already has it in stock: www.azetalibri.it (Euro 18,00). Thank you al for your precious support; you are all part of this book, you all know.... Ciao ciao Giovanni http://www.stewartcopeland.net http://www.illegaltales.com
