Rock star Sting canceled the opening night of the British portion of his world tour Friday because of a throat infection, Metro Radio Arena said.
The arena in Newcastle, northern England, had been scheduled to host the show.
"Sting is suffering from a throat infection which has also lead to him canceling concerts in Europe, and has been advised by his doctors not to perform," the arena's Web site said.
Sting had earlier postponed performances in Antwerp, Stockholm, Oslo, Copenhagen and Rotterdam "due to severe laryngitis," the singer's Web site said.
The show at the Metro Radio Arena is expected to be rescheduled for October or November.
