Hello all,
After the disappointment I felt after listening to several songs for the first time and then after listening to SL for the past 5 days non-stop, I must say that it has definately grown on me. I've grown to expect that from Sting and I actually find it more rewarding in the long run. Of course there are songs that instantly stand out (Inside, Dead Man's Rope, Book of My Life), but I also appreciate those that require me to work a little harder. Whenever I Say Your Name was blah to me at first, but it took awhile to peel away the layers, and I absolutely adore it now. Stolen Car was a let down at first (it sounded like such a cool concept), but now I'm always singing the catchy chorus. And I was in a major state of pain upon hearing Like a Beautiful Smile for the first time (Jamiroqui meets 70's porn) but it's getting better with each listen. (Although it still has a ways to go)
I like Sacred Love, but I'm constantly reminded of Eric Clapton (not necessarily a bad thing).
I'm not entirely hooked on This War yet, but we'll see.....
Overall, I enjoy the album, and I know that with each listen, I will continue to find new aspects about it that I like.
