"Schmoozing" in Hollywoood? That may be redundant. In any event, it goes against everything the guy has been about. It's a bit sad to go back and watch Bring on the Night, and hear Darrly Jones talking about never hearing a "nothing" song from Sting, and Branford speaking his disdain for the Hollywood crowd. I prefer the good old days, but maybe that's because I'm an old guy. Cheers, Stephen S.

Hey....interesting point, but I really don't see the connection between Sting winning and the industry catering to the target 13 year old audience. If anything, they would have given the award to that Pearl Harbor song or Enya song, as one features a currently popular country/pop singer and goes along with Ben Affleck and Josh Hartnett's respective muggs, and Enya is riding a wave of popularity right now. (not to mention that Lord of the Rings is HUGE). I find it a little surprising that Sting won, but not entirely, because even though he isn't largely popular with the desired youth market (as was evident with the My VH1 awards where he came in dead last in voting), he's still popular with the older crowd.

I don't think it's a matter of being 'fixed' as it is that the voters from the Hollywood Foreign Press and other related award shows tend to be a little older than the MTV crowd and more set in their musical tastes.....and they always seem to favor Sting. In today's edition of USA Today, Sting states that he is going to give the Golden Globe for "Until" to Mickey since she was the first person to listen to the song. What a wonderful 18th birthday present!
Instead of cynicism over why he won, this is lovely to read.

From the 'Later with Jools Holland' website is this passage "Jool's television career began in the early Eighties when he made a documentary about his friends The Police, in Montserrat" does anybody know what this is? Are they talking about the footage from Police around the world? He made that video quite funny....
Thanks,

Hi,
as I just received my Gateshead-live-DVD I thought about the other TV appearances on TV that would make great DVDs. But my question to German publishers only got negative results. At least the German TV concerts ( 2x Rockpalast, 1x Musikladen) are not likely to appear on DVD for the next time.
Perhaps some people from around the world can start asking questions, too. There are many great clips I'd like to buy (Paris 79, Amnesty 86, Budokan 80 etc.). Any information is welcome.
The only other thing I found out was that a SPIRITS videoclip appears on a DVD called " I want my DVD" and the "Can't Stand Losing You" live version from the Old Grey Whistle Test is on the 2-DVD-Set from England. Oh, yes and the Sting & Police Greatest Hits from Japan.
We still have to wait what Japan brings us next...
Dietmar
