Hi,
Hi!
I'm sorry but this must be some of the biggest crap I've read in a very long time. I really don't think that Sting needs any advice from you who's the better wife for him - that's completely ridiculous.
I'm sorry but you have totally missed my point. I would never dream of telling anyone who he or she ought to marry or leave, THAT would be ridiculous. As far as private life and human qualities are concerned Trudie may the best wife and person for all I know, which is next to nothing. What I'm speaking of is the public and "artistic" side of her life: since she has artistic and public exploits I, being part of the public, have as much right as anyone to state my opinion on her artistic value and public behaviour. When I say I'm almost sorry that Sting left Frances for Trudie that's obviously a paradox, I'm not claiming I'd actually scold him for doing that: I'm speaking as a fan who, from what he sees of his favourite musician's wife, has a feeling that she is living in his shadow. I mean, this is the longest dicussion on Trudie I can recall, and are we having it because of her last acting or producing success or because she just appeared on a show to tell the world of the alleged sexual preferences of her famous husband?
And this whole "woman who just wants to be famous and thererfore gets a famous man"-thing makes me just yawn.
I'd put it differently: "woman who happens to marry a famous man and therefore builds what she thinks is a career of her own in her husband's shadow".
It wasn't true with Yoko Ono
Well, this is very much open to question, and her case, in my opinion, is the most blatant. I find it very hard to deny that, for all her "artistic" pretensions, she has made a living out of her famous husband, especially after he was killed. A few years after John Lennon died she auctioned his famous round glasses, and that's enough for me.
PS: I'd be the first person to advice Sting to fire some (or better all) of his current musicians, producers, etc. - but I certainly would not tell him to date Frances again.
Nor would I. My opinion as a fan on the matter is as worthless as can be, but I do have a feeling that she would have made a different wife for the post-Police Sting, and I think there's nothing outrageous in saying it. If Sting loves Trudie and is emotionally and sexually happy with her I'm happy for him and that's none of my business. The point is we wouldn't even be talking about it if Trudie wasn't forcing us into her and Sting's most private habits. Ciao!
