Call me crazy if you wish but that's my prediction! Fry me if I am wrong but here are my top 10 reasons as to why I believe this will happen. At the same time, I hope you all remember you heard this prediction here first. Here's how it goes down. 1) All three members have expressed a desire to not do a reunion tour for money, the Broken Music tour tickets are cheap cheap cheap (with the exception of Atlantic City). 2) They will introduce the band to a younger college audience. Both the opening act for the tour, Phantom Planet, and Stewart and Andy's latest support, Incubus are meant to attract and draw curiosity from a younger audience. 3) Sting and The Police have always been different and this reunion tour will be unlike any other! 4) After the entire world is surprised and shocked on April Fool's day, 4/1, after Josh Freese leaves his drums and the instruments are handed over to Andy and Stewart, the commotion this event will attract will be second to none, it will send shock waves through college campuses and the music world. 5) After the initial warm up leg if done, the Police will then launch one of the biggest and greatest reunion tours in the Spring/Summer/Fall of 2005. They will play halls and stadiums around the world, 21 years after their break up. 6) Benefits to the band are a reinvention/reincarnation to a younger audience. Sting's solo career will also benefit from this younger audience exposure and shockwave that will hit the music world. 7) The timing of Broken Music and Incubus cannot be a mere coincidence. The writing is on the wall. The plan is already in action. 8) The name Broken Music signifies the era of the Police and the Police was part of the period that is written about in the book! 9) Many will tell you I am crazy but I feel this is gonna happen, sorry Andy, Stewart and Sting if I spoiled your surprise. 10) If I am wrong, and Sting continues doing his magic with his Broken Music tour, fine, Sting always surprises. I find it ultimately weird that as soon as this Broken Music tour is announced, Stewart and Andy reunite with Incubus. I don't care what anyone states that Stewart says it was planned months ago and he forgot, bullsh!t! If Stewart and Andy get a Sting replacement, they will tour using Sting's music and lyrics. They might find a singer with a high vocal range to imitate Sting but they will NEVER be able to write a good song without Sting. It is this gift of songwriting, from the genius that is Sting that made the Police to be the greatest band in the world. It is obvious that the incredible songs were the ones Sting wrote. I will also see it as a cheap shot if Andy and Stewart continues these Incubus style sessions and reunites "The Police" without Sting. They should write their own songs and create their unique sound! In the end, they are Sting songs and even when Sting performs solo, he adds a different touch, he never went the route of wanting to recreate the "Police" sound in search of more money as a solo artist. He gave the band the respect it deserved and allowed that "Police" sound to remain the unique awesome power it is. Sting could have recreated that sound easily with the right musicians. If Stewart and Andy believe they can reinvent the "Police" sound without Sting as they tried with Incubus, I will say shame on them for at least not being original enough to create their own signature. Any action to play the songs in the original format IMNSHO, would be a slap to Sting. I have heard demos of songs before being adapted to the Police, but the fact is a man like Branford Marsalis has helped create a unique sound for Sting in the same way Stewart and Andy created a unique sound for the Police, in the end they are still Sting songs, just different musicians.
