So what is calling him stink mean, your words "STin(g)(k)"? Then the ego thing, last time I remember seeing Sting act like an egomaniac was with the Police, that was over 15 years ago, yet you say "but Sting has shot himself in the foot in my opinion, he is consistently acting like an ego maniac". Then the crap about "He has treated his former band mates with much disrespect", when nothing could compare with "F*ck the Police". Then dissing the man's music with "Sting has lost musical appeal" and "Right now Sting is pop's Grandpa, Stewart is Rocks Elder!!!!" If that is your way of saying Sting is a great musician, I would hate to see you say he sucks. David --- Terrence Sheehan <sheehansound@earthlink.net> wrote:
Hey Pal now I am *issed, I will always reserve the right to call it as I see it. This is a free mailing list, I have posted my opinions with no disrespect to anyone. (including yourself). Furthermore, I read her post and in all essence she agreed with me. Maybe you should read it again. But, I tell you this, I will not refrain from my opinion, as that is what makes this list a great place. If people leave the list because of my honest post, than so be it!!! I have been on this list a long time, seen lots of people come and go. So as to your post asking me to quit dissing Sting, I don't think I am dissing Sting, I am posting my opinion!! obviously you have missed many parts of my emails where I said Sting is a Great Musician. I will continue to post my opinion to the list, and if you don't like something, Oh well, why is it any hair off your back?, unless as they say the truth hurts. Most everyone on this list is a friend of mine, her email mentioned many negative feedbacks about Sting, why should I be singled out. I am however man enough to stand up for what I believe without running away. When I think Sting is great again you will be the first to hear about it.
Take Care, Terrence Sheehan

Dude, next time you make your groundless statements dissing Sting, be prepared to take the heat when flaws in your argument is put to light! You already triggered one member to leave.

David, I asked you to let it rest, I realize nothing I say will sway your opinion. You are having no effect on my opinion which is why I suggested you let it rest. I wrote my posts from personal opinion, If you don't agree that is fine, that's the beauty of the list. Let's move on.

Ahhh, give me a break, the point is you say you are a musician, I asked you to list how is Oysterhead superior to Sting, you have no answer. Obviously even you are well aware of the superior arrangements and music in Sting.
So what if Manu uses a click track? Manu was Zildjian's drummer of the year, the most respected manufacturer of cymbals. Do you really believe Zildjian would choose Manu if he weren't great?
Your God, Stewart, used a click track while in the Police, what do you think is in the background of Walking in Your Footsteps, King of Pain, Synchronicity One on the Synchronicity concert. Vinnie Colauita and Omar Hakim, far better drummers than Stewart also used a click track. In fact, most drummers (outside of traditional jazz) in the music world today use some sort of drum machine or sequenced music, it's reality today!

David, In all due respect nothing you say would impress me at this point, You have listed Manu, do you realize he is playing with a click track there? Where is the musicianship in that. I think at this point it is best to say we disagree at the most extreme ends, and that it is best to move onto another topic, for us and the list. You will never sway my thinking and I know I won't sway yours. Go Stewart!!!

PS. Brand New Day is Stings worst album to me, To you #3( I think that says it all)

The only musician that Oysterhead could be better for is maybe the drummer but then again, that is personal opinion. Some drummers might find Stewart too loud or one dimensional, others might find Manu too reserved.
Maybe to musicians in Iron Maiden and the rest of the Acid Rock crowd might prefer Oysterhead but real musicians, not of that hard rock garbage would automatically take a liking to Sting, and yes I say real musicians because most of that hard rock junk is one chord noise, NOT sophisticated musically and
