Not right about one thing though, Rich. I always thought I wouldn't want to see them if they got back together. My rationale: It'll be sad, and it'll ruin my memories. How quickly that sentiment flew out the door~

Some reasons behind my change of heart:

1.
Broken Music, the tour. Sting proved he still has the energy and kick ass jumps. Two things missing though.

2.
Andy. I had to choose between trying to pry myself into the RRHofFame gig and a sure thing Fiction Plane show here in Austin. Chose the latter, and still don't regret it. Maybe you had to be there, but from the VH1 coverage, their reunion seemed sad to me, and I'm glad I wasn't there to have that be "my last memory" of them. Not a psychologist whatsoever, but IMHO, Andy seemed depressed and Sting seemed bored. Stewart was the only one showing any joy in being back. I sense an awakening and spirit in Andy I haven't in the past.

3. "
One Train Later" and "Everyone Stares". After reading "One Train Later" I regained my confidence in them capturing the energy, synergy and magic that the three of them had back in the day. Seems like Andy has worked through some things and truly cherishes what they had. Seems Stewart has never lost the passion, and the DVD made me want more. So much so that I had to go to the Backstage Cafe a couple months ago just to wallow in all the Police "stuff" decorating the place.

I've never been able to figure out what it was that made the Police the Police, but after reading the book, I am aware that so much of it is what Andy does w/his guitars. Yes, you need Sting's voice, Stew's drumming, but you darn well need Andy. Proof positive being that "something missing during the Police songs" Broken Music tour. I'm sure Andy's take on things brought me to that "aha" moment. I just never knew how the different effects set them apart. Hell, I didn't even know what an effect pedal was until my son got some a couple years ago!  Eventually maybe I'll learn something about what's behind music instead of just appreciating the final product. Then again, maybe it will take all the joy out of it.

4.
"Broken Music", the book. So much I didn't know about Sting the man came out. I thought he was just a miserably unhappy guy due to the band, but sadly, there were underlying issues none of us knew about. Made me feel for him, and feel incredibly guilty for despising him for breaking up the world's greatest band. Of course I still went to all his solo stuff and bought it all during that phase, but I now feel sorry for him. I admire that he tries new things, knows what he wants, and accomplishes it, but for the love of God, can't he learn to be a bit more flexible? It's a give and take world. I'm ready to take up a spot at those shows I didn't think I'd want!

That being said, I could have lived w/out a reunion. Of course, with it potentially happening, there's not much that's going to keep me away--- Mother in law included. I'd be a crazy person to pass this up. I could have lived my life perfectly happy delving into other music, Fiction Plane would be my first choice. Was listening to them again last night after a long hiatus. Absolutely love what they do, especially the earlier stuff. I don't know what's going on w/them but I'm afraid I'll actually
want to listen to lute music before that plane takes off.

Now, to google a stretching machine and/or really high platform heels... I really don't mind being vertically challenged (5 foot, HALF and inch) except during concerts. I was standing w/a tall friend at a show last spring. Became envious of her height after finding a 6 inch mound to stand on and realize what I've been missing all my life (save those few times I was actually in the first 5 rows). Amazing how enjoyable a concert is when you can actually see the band AND breathe fresh air.

That's my confession/rant for the night. Sorry if I rambled, put sentences together wrong, bored you. I have so much pent up nervousness now, I just had to get it out. Friends and family don't want to hear it, so I'm subjecting you to it!

Night all!
michelle

hello to all. i must apologize for being on the
sidelines recently, but i have had a HELL of a past
few weeks.

anyway...here's hoping this talk of 'reunion' proves
fruitful. ms. michelle, while you are always right,
you have never been MORE right about the lute project.
i have yet to even buy it. as i have stated here
before...it gets harder and harder to be a sting fan
with each passing year.

as for EVERYONE STARES...it is just tremendous. the
derangements on it are worth the sticker price alone.

and i have yet to buy andy's book, though i have read
a good part of it...seems like a great read.

best in 2007,
rich
