HI Michelle, Yep that was me with the JB Trio suggestion. They rock!! I’d did start with sheet music, learning guitar and recorder, can’t play either for crap now. Its been 25 odd years since I played any serious guitar, just something I did at school. Drums I haven’t played for an eternity. Stopped before I got married so that must be about 13 years ago! Been trying to get my son to watch a Frank Zappa documentary that I have. The late great Frank talks about his different styles of composition and how important it is to be able to read music. Most kids these days think music comes out of a computer. Cheers from down here! _____ From: Stingfan222@aol.com [mailto:Stingfan222@aol.com] Sent: Tuesday, 8 November 2005 1:33 PM To: mathew@wattobay.com; police@mailman.xmission.com Subject: Re: [Police] New POLICE DVD Mathew, Didn't you know that prepubescent boys just know so much more than their parents??? I don't know if this one will survive his teens, he's really pushing the limits these days. Knows it all and thinks he should do what he wants. Actually, I think you're the one that told me about the John Butler Trio, right? The reason Fletcher is playing the standup bass is due to seeing them at an instore during SXSW, so gee, thanks! he couldn't pick up something a little smaller or simply focus on his electric guitar and bass? The orchestra had their first performance a few weeks ago---very impressed! Thought I would be bored to tears, but had a blast hearing the progress these kids have made considering they just started playing this school year! Bet you started out with sheet music, no? I guess w/drums you're not reading notes though. Does the school band encourage them to rotate through all th percussion? You'd have to read music to play the bells, no? Nothing wrong with him following in dad's footsteps, just have him do it the way you want! He can go w/out sheet music when he gets to Phil or Stew's level of playing! nice to see the list lives! He wants to play drums like his dad, but I have told him before he can do that he has to learn piano or guitar to learn how to read music. But he counters what drummer has sheet music in front of them? Phil Collins doesn’t Stewart Copeland doesn’t – to which dad replies, Yes, but they both can play multiple instruments and read and write music!!! Hey the list isn’t so quiet anymore!!!!!!!! He has seen the Stones and a fair few bands that I grew up with and reckons that the Police would be bigger than a lot of the artists that he listens to now. He also thinks that Sting solo sucks! -----Original Message----- From: police-bounces+mathew=wattobay.com@mailman.xmission.com [mailto:police-bounces+mathew=wattobay.com@mailman.xmission.com] On Behalf Of krapola Sent: Tuesday, 8 November 2005 8:14 AM To: 'foxie'; police@mailman.xmission.com Subject: RE: [Police] New POLICE DVD Remind me who was that again? -----Original Message----- From: police-bounces+krapola=shaw.ca@mailman.xmission.com [mailto:police-bounces+krapola=shaw.ca@mailman.xmission.com] On Behalf Of foxie Sent: November 7, 2005 2:01 PM To: police@mailman.xmission.com Subject: Re: [Police] New POLICE DVD i would imagine that the bassplayer must give his okay... -- No virus found in this outgoing message.
