I've thought about this a lot too. When the tour was announced and I hadn't seen any shows yet, I had high hopes for an album. I've always thought that with all the interesting projects the three of them have worked on since The Police, I would love to see them find a way to bring it all together. However, after seeing their show I forgot about all that. I think the balance of power is not what it was when they were young. To me, it seemed more like a Sting show than what I had expected. I would really only want to see new stuff if he would be willing to compromise and the other 2 were willing to fight more for their contributions. Not good for band longevity, but I think that the three way clash of egos was ultimately what made the Police great in the first place. Another Chris On Mar 9, 2008, at 5:27 AM, Teri wrote:
Perhaps, it true, Sting doesn't want to touch the legacy. I've been wondering how a new album from The Police might sound, if not like a Sting record, what sort of music style?

But then, watching the video posted here of "I Hung My Head," it could also be quite embarrassing. Sting has pretty much ruined his own reputation in most musical and critical quarters, but he hasn't done so to the reputation of The Police. Perhaps he realizes this and figures he'll leave well enough alone, at least in terms of new material. Fine with me!
