Much More Music seems to like The Police. I know this was some time ago now, but back in September of 2004 they did a "20 Best of New Wave" and The Police were #1. They even went into a decent explanation of why, though many would not at first consider The Police to have been a new wave band, they deserved to win in this category: First, The Police were there at the beginning of new wave music with a fresh sound and style that brought us into the age of video. Secondly, unlike many bands that just penetrated the North American and European markets, The Police became an international phenomenon. Finally, they referred to The Police's wide ranging musical influences as well as the virtuosity of each of the band members as musicians. Here is the list from 20 to number 1: A Flock of Seagulls Adam Ant Tears for Fears Joe Jackson English Beat Human League Simple Minds Devo The Cars Talking Heads Depeche Mode The B 52s The Pretenders New Order Elvis Costello The Go Gos Culture Club Duran Duran Blondie The Police Cheers, Bruce in TO -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- No virus found in this incoming message.
