Might be old news, but haven't seen it on this list: I Just bought the much-hyped album by Arctic Monkeys and noticed the Roxanne reference in the song "When the sun goes down":

And I've seen him with girls of the night
And he told Roxanne to put on her red light
It’s all infected but he'll be alright
Cause he's a scumbag, don't you know
I said he's a scumbag, don't you know!

Seems that Arctic Monkeys can be added to the (long) list of bands influenced by The Police...

Cheers

Subject: [Police] Audioslave on The Police

Thanks for sharing that article Kinetic Kid. Brings back some memories. As it turned out Tom Morello took the picture of my girlfriend and I with Sting at the Hall of Fame show. Tom just happened to be standing nearby and my girlfriend thrusted the camera at him (not knowing who he was) and asked him to take a pic. I remember the look on Tom's face was kinda priceless. He obliged and turns out Tom is a great photographer! Afterwards I noticed he and Sting shared some words and I made it my mission to find out who Tom was. I didn't realize he was such a big Police fan (as is Steven Tyler). My girlfriend apologized to Tom after I mentioned to her that he was the dude from Audioslave. Tom was totally cool about it and said, hey, I knew you were a big fan so no worries. Looks like the rest of the band are huge fans of the Police as well. Incidentally, one of the songs Sting refused to play at the Hall of Fame was I Fought The Law, which was supposed to be the big closer. The Clash were inducted that year too as you may recall.
