I suspect the Unplugged thing isn't going to happen as there has been no mention of it since it was cancelled. Strangely enough, I actually hope it does not come to fruition. My reason for this is that it just doesn't seem like a very Police thing to do. I think the songs would be "Sting-ified" if they were acoustic. Andy's guitar and Stewart's drums are two major reasons why The Police sound like The Police, and neither of those instruments would come across the same way in an acoustic format. To be clear, this isn't a knock on Sting - I love his solo stuff (acoustic stuff included - in particular the two Timothy White Chicago sessions). It is just I feel Sting can be Sting with any musicians he wants...until he is with Andy and Stewart. When he is with those guys, the magic is The Police, and I prefer to keep it that way. That being said, I know if it ever did happen that the CD would be stuck in my player for months on end - despite my ideals, I would never be able to resist anything new (or even semi-new) from they boys!
