Hi guys, First I'd like to advance a little theory. Is it possible that the person who asked that "politics" be kept off the list was referring not to ordinary debate on the merits of the music, nor yet to Bush and other figures, but to what in a work setting would be called "office politics" - ie. the more malign side of interpersonal relationships on the list? I suggest this because it seemed to me that the statement suggesting we avoid "politics" came along in apparant response to a debate about the behaviour of a list member who'd been behaving rudely. Oh well, regardless of the etymology, the whole thing has resulted in much hilarity, and one of my favourite posts ever on the list: thanks to whoever sent in the message declaring martial law and a Summers-only mandate; I fell about laughing (not, I might add, at Andy, though God knows "Friends" has been known to have me in stitches... but I digress - I do that rather a lot, don't I?). Er... anyhoo, thanks to the people who responded to my last post off-list; I am now very pissed off at Amazon.co.uk for their apparant refusal to acknowledge the existence of the "Inside" DVD. On the release date back in October, I went there to buy it and found no reference; normally an upcoming product at least has a page with a few details and a release date, so I was very puzzled. I didn't spot it in the shops in Belfast either, though considering how long it took for me to track down the "...All This Time" DVD, this couldn't be considered as evidence for or against "Inside" having had a UK release. And now thanks to you kind people (and a frantic online shopping expedition to HMV.co.uk) , I learn that the bloody thing has been on general release in Europe for ages! Amazon.co.uk, what have I done to you that you should make me think otherwise?! I suffered through your inadequacies! I should be trying to buy shares in you merely to recoup my outlay on your fine products! *try to imagine this being said in the most histrionic tone possible* Anyway, I'm a little upset. *sniff* I think I'm going to have to go and get the DVD this week... But on to happier things... it's nice to see some reviews of the book finally appearing in the press. Friday's Daily Mail (UK) had a glowing review, plus a nice picture of Sting and Trudie, and I see from the Stingus mailing list that there's been more stuff happening in overseas papers... Did anyone get to see Sting perform "Whenever I Say Your Name" on BBC1's Children In Need on Friday? I stayed up watching until midnight with a videotape at the ready, but Sting came there none... was the performance pulled from the schedule at the last minute? I did notice that stuff scheduled in the Radio Times to happen in one phase of the evening turned up much later, so I daresay that a lot of juggling of acts was going on. Did anyone manage to record the performance? Did he mime, or was it a real live version? Angeline _________________________________________________________________ It's fast, it's easy and it's free.
